Seat Leon (00 - 05)

When Seat introduced the Leon to Europe in 2000, they immediately had Volkswagen quaking in their boots. This was a car that offered all the reliability and performance of the Golf but with edgier styling and a lower price tag. That still rings true today and this model is certainly more exciting design-wise than the Golf of the same generation. It’s great to drive, with keen handling and nicely weighted steering, all wrapped up in a stylish and sporty exterior – it’s obvious why the Leon is so popular in the Irish market. And despite being almost 15 years old, this model has aged incredibly well. Aesthetics aside, engine choice is good, fuel economy is pocket-friendly and overall it feels like a sturdy, well put together package. Given a choice between this and the Golf, CarsIreland.ie would pick the Leon everytime.
